You may be asking yourself prior to purchasing an Amazon Kindle Touch if you should buy the Kindle with or without special offers. Many people wonder if it is worth the extra cost of purchasing a Kindle without offers. Here is what you need to know.
Amazon offers a discount on the cost of a Kindle Touch if you allow special offers from Amazon and Amazon partners to be displayed on your Kindle.
At first, I was willing to drop the extra money so I would not have to see adds all the time or have my reading interrupted. However, I decided to do a little more research, which in the end, saved me some money.
The first and most important thing you need to know about the special offers on the Amazon Kindle Touch is that you will NEVER see ads while you are reading. The special offers to not pop up or show on the Kindle Touch while you are reading.
The only time you see ads are when you are in the Kindle Touch menu screen or on the screen saver.
While in the Kindle menu, the special offers show at the very bottom 8th or 10th of the screen. These ads are not very intrusive and I often do not even notice them.
If you leave your Kindle for a length of time, the screen saver is activated and displays on of the special offers. I typically turn off my Kindle Touch and have never seen the special offer screen saver except when I wanted to check it out for research purposes.
However, here is the other thing I learned. Most of the time, the special offers include deals on Kindle books or other Amazon Kindle specials. The Kindle daily deal and monthly deals are often included in the ads. For instance, you can often pick up a book for $0.99 to $1.99. These type of ads often bring to my attention books I would have normally not come across. There is also the Amazon monthly 100 books for $3.99 or less offer.
According to the Amazon website, recent deals have included deals like:
$30 for one month of unlimited yoga classes in your city ($119 value)Save up to $500 on select HDTVs$1 for a Kindle book, choose from thousands$15 for $30 worth of groceries at your local storeIn the end, it was well worth the savings of purchasing my Kindle with the offers rather than spend the extra money to not see the ads.
